Safety

All participants are reminded that a range of hazards are part and parcel of a field trip and that a level of personal risk could be encountered.  We will always plan to lead trips that only involve low risk activities.  Individual and group safety is of paramount importance during field excursions. At the outset of each event, the group leader will identify the risks and the care required by all participants to ensure an incident-free outing. We also draw participants attention to the Pre-excursion Awareness Checklist which is also listed on the “Excursion booklets” table on the Field Guides page.

We ask all participants to keep a watch on other colleagues and in the event that somebody becomes detached, as a precaution, we ask that all participants have a map of the area (OS Landranger, Explorer either paper version or a digital version on their phone), a compass and a whistle.

All attendees must accept that participation is at their own risk.

Car Share

To reduce congestion at the venues we plan to visit, to enhance your satisfaction and to help reduce our carbon footprint, people are encouraged to car share where possible.
