Scotland’s carboniferous rocks have provided a wealth of important natural resources and played an integral role in the industrial revolution.
This talk will explore how the exploitation of these rocks has given a unique insight into the planet’s past at a time when life was recovering from one of the biggest mass extinctions in its history.
Katie has a degree and MRes from the University of Glasgow and a PhD from Durham University. She is curator of Minerology and Petrology at The Huntarian, Glasgow and the project geologist for the Eco-museum of Scottish Mining Landscapes.
