Even recovering a small fraction of the estimated 103 – 1010 million metric tons of in-place natural hydrogen resources in many different geological terranes would meet the hydrogen demand to achieve net-zero.
This presentation will summarise our current understanding of the natural hydrogen system and discuss the exploration techniques needed to identify the prospective areas.
Dr Euan MaCaulay holds a Doctorate in Geoscience from Universität Potsdam, Germany, and a BSc (Hons) degree from the University of Glasgow, UK. He is a structural geologist with a background in both hydrocarbon and mineral industries, gained through exploration and development roles at Midland Valley, Oil Search, and Anglo American. He has been working with Snowfox Discovery to explore for natural hydrogen since September 2024.
